Born on 22 May 1976 in Shahoor Kalan, Gurdaspur, Bhai Sukhwant Singh Shahoor is a recognisable name in the world of Gurbani music. His father was a Nishkaam Sewadar in the local Gurudwara as Granthi and also a farmer. Bhai Sukhwant Singh Shahoor's introduction to Gurbani music started in 1991 when he began learning from his elder brother, Bhai Dalbir Singh Shahoor, who is a Hazoori Ragi Talwandi Sabo Sri Damdama Saheb. Bhai Sukhwant Singh Shahoor was greatly influenced by his father and his elder brother, who were both involved in Gurbani music. He continued his musical journey under the guidance of Ustad Amarjit Singh Ji, Damdama Saheb, who taught him the intricacies of classical vocal music. He is a classical vocalist who specializes in singing Gurbani in three Taal, one Taal, Jhaptaal, Roopak, and Deepchandi, and has also obtained a Certificate in Gurmat Sangeet from Prachin Kala Kendra, Bhatinda. Bhai Sukhwant Singh Shahoor started his career as a Hazoori Ragi in 1997 and has been performing professionally since then. He is associated with various institutions and has performed at Darbar Saheb, Tarn Taran Saheb, and Damdama Saheb, Talwandi Sabo. Apart from being an accomplished musician, Bhai Sukhwant Singh Shahoor is also a spiritual leader who spreads the message of love and unity through his speeches and discourses.
