Chardikala Jatha

The Chardikala Jatha is a group of young American Sikhs who have devoted themselves to spreading the message of Sikhism through the art of Gurbani Kirtan. Comprising three musicians, Jugat Guru Singh Khalsa, Sada Sat Simran Singh Khalsa, and Hari Mander Jot Singh Khalsa, the group has been trained by classical music master Ustaad Narinder Singh Sandhu in the traditional raag. The Jatha is known for their soulful and traditional rendition of Gurbani Kirtan and has had the honor of performing at Gurdwaras around the world, including the famous Siri Harimandir Sahib. Their positive and powerful performances embody the spirit of the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, who preached the importance of being positive, buoyant, and optimistic in life. The term "Chardikala" reflects an eternally evergreen and blissful mental state of a Sikh against any background, whether happy or sad. Each member of the Jatha is a graduate and teacher at Miri Piri Academy in Amritsar, India, with Jugat Guru Singh Khalsa serving as the Principal and Director of Spiritual Education. The Jatha feels especially blessed to have played at many special occasions at the Golden Temple, Harimandir Sahib, in Amritsar. Their music style is Raag, and they use their art to spread the teachings of Sikhism. Their music is a beautiful amalgamation of traditional and contemporary styles that connects listeners to the divine message of Gurbani. Their performances are not only soulful but also inspiring, teaching the essence of Sikhism and spreading the message of love, compassion, and peace.
